place value

The first thing I would like to talk about is place value. Firstly place value is to understand each columns, by the column means place. Like one's or unit, tens, hundreds, thousands, ten thousands, hundred thousands, and millions and keep goes on.

For example, 5723146. The 5 indicates the millions, 7 indicates hundred thousands, 2 indicates ten thousands, 3 indicates thousands, 1 indicates hundreds, 4 indicates tens and lastly, 6 indicates one's or units.

Secondly there's also a place value for the decimals, which is similar to the one that we just looked. here's how it goes. Lets go bit slow for you to understand, first example is 5.9. The 5 indicates the whole number and 9 indicates the tenth. Tenth is tens in the decimal place value and make sure you don't get confused with the tens and tenth.

Second example is 6.95. Okay this example looks similar of the first example, the difference is this example has hundredth and the hundredth is 5.

Okay hope you got something and the decimal value is equal to the whole number place value, tens is tenth, hundreds is hundredth, thousand is thousandth and it goes on.

Also the place values mostly used most of the time.
